Salad “Herring under a fur coat” – a classic of any feast. There are rules by which housewives collect layers. But we say – cook the way you like. If you have your own preferences and desires, then follow them, then the salad will turn out tasty and original. We offer our own version of the classic salad. Prepare an unusual salad Herring under a fur coat with with mackerel. The dish is very fragrant, with a new original taste. A big plus of using mackerel is that it has few bones, unlike herring. If the herring needs to be cleaned from small bones for a long time, then it is enough to remove the ridge and several large bones from the mackerel. Spread the salad under a fur coat with mackerel in layers and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. For salad, we recommend boiling potatoes, carrots, eggs and beets in advance. Vegetables and eggs will cool down and can be used immediately for the recipe salad Herring under a fur coat with mackerel.
Let's start the recipe under a fur coat with mackerel from fish - peel lightly salted mackerel from the skin, remove the backbone and cut the fish into fillets, removing all the bones. Mackerel has large bones, so getting them is easy. Cut the cleaned mackerel fillet into medium cubes.
Peel the onion, then cut it into small cubes. Onions will give the salad a bright aroma and a slightly spicy taste.
Toss the mackerel with the chopped onion and spread in the first layer. To form the salad, I use a culinary mold.
Pour the first layer of salad with a small layer of mayonnaise. The onion will be mixed with salted fish and marinated a little, it will become less spicy.
Grate the boiled potatoes on a coarse grater and put the second layer in the salad. Pour with mayonnaise, add salt and black pepper to taste.
The next layer is grated boiled carrots. Pour carrots with mayonnaise, you can not add spices.
Put a layer of grated boiled beets on top of the carrots. Season this layer well with mayonnaise.
And finally, sprinkle the dish with a grated boiled egg - and you're done. The egg will decorate the salad and make its taste more harmonious. Now put the salad in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes so that all layers are soaked.
