If you want to cook a tasty and healthy dinner, bake mackerel in the oven! In combination with mustard, this fish turns out aromatic and piquant, without a pronounced fish smell. Having the most affordable set of products, you will get an excellent result. Mackerel in the oven with mustard is suitable as a separate dish, as well as in combination with any side dish. Baked fish goes well with vegetable salad, fresh herbs or boiled rice. This fish is easy to cook – you do not need to clean it from scales, just remove the insides. In addition, it has few bones and the meat is incredibly healthy! For dietary nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, mackerel in the oven with mustard and soy sauce is the best solution!
Half-defrost the mackerel, rinse, clean it from entrails, gut it and rinse again. Pat the carcass dry with paper towels to remove excess water. Cut the fish into portions. In this half-defrosted form, it is cut perfectly and the slices are whole. Lightly salt each piece, pepper to taste. Since the recipe for mackerel with mustard in the oven contains soy sauce, do not overdo it with salt.
Peel the onion, rinse it and cut into half rings (feathers). The onion will add extra juiciness to the dish.
Place the mackerel pieces in a baking dish.
Make a mustard sauce for mackerel in the oven – mix vegetable oil with soy sauce, add Dijon and regular mustard, mix all the ingredients.
Add all the onions to the mackerel and pour the prepared sauce over the fish.
Drizzle the mackerel pieces with lemon juice and add a few slices of citrus if desired.
Bake the dish with mustard in the oven at 180-190℃. In 25-35 minutes the dish will be completely ready. The fish will be perfectly baked and will be incredibly juicy, tender and aromatic. The sauce gives it an additional bright taste and a piquant note.
