Don’t consume dairy products or eggs, but love homemade cakes? Prepare quick lenten pancakes on water according to our recipe. Only use water with brewed tea. You can take any tea – black, green, with or without various additives. An unusual base will give delicate products a creamy color, pleasant taste and aroma. Use baking powder instead of eggs as a binder. It contains soda, citric acid, flour and starch. Thanks to these ingredients, lenten pancakes on water without eggs will have an airy texture and a beautiful openwork mesh on the surface.
Before kneading the dough, brew tea. Pour boiling water over it and cool until warm. Sift the flour so that the lean thin pancakes on the water turn out soft and fluffy. Pour the brewed tea into a deep container.
Add sugar, salt, vanillin and vegetable oil. Using a whisk, mix the products well together. All dry ingredients should dissolve and the oil should combine with the resulting liquid.
Add flour and baking powder in small portions. Knead a not very thick homogeneous dough. For thicker pancakes, add another 2 tbsp. l. flour. Let the pancake mixture sit for 15 minutes and start baking the pancakes.
To work with the dough comfortably, we use a special pancake pan. It would be good if it had a non-stick coating. Grease the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of vegetable oil before each portion of dough. We use a silicone brush for these purposes. Pour half a ladle of dough into a well-heated frying pan.
Fry the pancakes for one minute on each side until lightly browned. We transfer the hot products to a flat dish and cover them so that under the influence of steam their edges become soft and elastic.
A simple recipe for lenten pancakes with water is ready! Serve them with any sweet additives.
Enjoy your meal!
