Chicken Tikka Masala is an iconic Indian dish. It has been prepared for over fifty years. Marinated pieces of meat are first baked on wooden skewers in the form of kebabs. And then stewed in a spicy thick sauce based on tomato paste, yogurt and butter. The original chicken tikka masala recipe uses the Indian seasoning garam masala. If you can’t find it, you can use the right combination of curry spices.
We also need 2 wooden skewers for the recipe. Marinate the chicken breast. We cut it into small pieces with a side of no more than three centimeters.
Transfer the meat to a small bowl. Add yogurt, seasoning, chopped garlic and a little lemon juice. Mix chicken breast pieces with marinade and leave on the table for 30 minutes. Soak wooden skewers in cold water so they don't burn in the oven.
We're preparing the sauce. Cut the onion into small cubes and fry in a pan with vegetable oil until light golden brown.
Add chopped garlic and spices to the pan. Mix them with fried onions and simmer for a couple of minutes.
Thread the chicken breast pieces onto the prepared skewers. We place them on a baking sheet and send them to the oven, heated to 270˚C. Bake the skewers for 20 minutes.
In a pan with onions, garlic and spices, add tomato paste, meat marinade, butter and 150 ml of clean water. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes. Season it with salt and pepper.
Put the baked chicken breast pieces into the prepared sauce. Stir Tikka Masala. Simmer the meat with constant stirring until the excess liquid has evaporated.
Our Tikka Masala recipe is ready! Serve hot chicken to the table. We decorate the dish with chopped herbs. We use rice or vegetables as a side dish.
Enjoy your meal!
