Classic recipe Herring under a fur coat has long and firmly settled on our holiday tables. The dish has a respectable age – soon the “fur coat” will celebrate its centennial anniversary! Aristarkh Prokoptsev is the chef of one of the capital’s taverns, who came up with a recipe for a unique salad.
In the rebellious year of 1918, visitors to taverns often abused alcohol. Intoxicated, they began to conduct a fierce political debate. The showdown was so hot that not only the dishes, but also the furniture were beating. To reduce damage to property, a hearty appetizing snack was invented. She symbolized the people’s unification.
The appetizer coped with the task perfectly well and turned out to be very popular. Today, a rare Russian holiday is complete without this dish. Modern housewives often make additions to the classic recipe Herring under a fur coat. In the proposed recipe, in addition to vegetables, hard-boiled eggs are involved.
Let's prepare all the components. And first of all, cut the herring fillet into small cubes.
Chop the onion as finely as possible.
Turn boiled carrots into carrot cubes.
Grate boiled beets on a coarse grater.
We also use a grater to grind eggs.
Boiled in their skins and chilled potatoes free from peel and cut into cubes.
And now you should take a dish that is suitable in size and begin the process of laying out the layers. Potatoes are sent to the bottom, which is poured with a mayonnaise mesh.
Then comes a layer of herring.
The herring is covered with an onion "meadow".

Gently lay the carrot cubes on top of the onion. Let's not forget the mayonnaise.

And finally, the final chord is grated beetroot, covered with mayonnaise cobwebs. If possible, let your herring brew under a fur coat for a couple of hours - during this time the layers will be saturated with mayonnaise, and the salad can be served like a cake, cut into portions without the risk of destroying the structure.
