If you want to prepare a tasty and satisfying side dish for dinner, cook aromatic and tender pea puree in a saucepan. To do this, you will need a minimum set of the most accessible ingredients. To ensure the peas are completely boiled, we recommend adding regular baking soda during cooking. It will not affect the taste, but will perfectly soften dry peas. Before cooking, beans need to be soaked in water for several hours, or preferably overnight. This will allow the peas to boil faster.
The only drawback of today’s dish is the length of time it takes to prepare. But if you are not in a hurry, then be sure to use our simple and uncomplicated method. The dish is as healthy, economical and basic as possible! The finished puree can be served with fried onions and juicy meat chops. Or with a simple vegetable salad. Let’s make pea puree in a saucepan together!
To make pea puree in a saucepan with soaking, cover dry split peas with plain water and leave overnight to swell. Pour in more water, the beans will absorb it as much as possible.
In the morning, drain all the water from the soaked peas, rinse the legumes thoroughly under running water through a sieve.
Place the cereal in a saucepan, fill it with clean water.
Place the porridge on the fire, bring to a boil, turning on medium heat. Stir to prevent the peas from sticking to the bottom of the dish. When the water just boils, reduce the heat to low, add a little baking soda to the pan and stir. Baking soda creates some foam when it reacts with hot water.
Cook the peas for 15 minutes over low heat, skimming off the foam. Make sure that the water does not escape; do not cover the pan completely with a lid.
After another 15-20 minutes, the peas will be completely cooked. If there is any liquid left, drain it. Mash the peas using a potato masher.
Just now add salt and pepper to the finished pea porridge puree in a saucepan. If you do this earlier, the peas may take longer to cook.
