Not every type of rice turns out fluffy after cooking. Therefore, we recommend choosing long-grain steamed varieties - jasmine or basmati. They contain less starch, so the grains hardly stick together when cooked. Wash the rice several times in plenty of water. This step is essential and will help remove excess starch from the grains. Rinse until there is “clean water”. At the end, you can leave the rice in cold water for 30-40 minutes so that the cereal softens slightly.

When preparing a recipe for fluffy rice, it is important to consider not only the variety, but also the container in which the cereal is cooked. It is advisable to use pans with a thick bottom, which will help ensure proper temperature distribution and protect the cereal from burning. Pour 400 ml of water into a saucepan and place on high heat until it boils. Pour in the rice and wait for the water to boil again. Add butter and salt. Stir lightly and cover the pan with a lid.

Now reduce the heat to low. At this stage there is no need to open the lid and stir the rice. Cook the rice for 15-20 minutes, but follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, which are indicated on the package. After turning off the heat, leave the crumbly rice as a side dish in a closed pan for another 10-15 minutes. To retain heat inside the pan longer, try wrapping the pan in a towel.
