The recipe for ginger ale was invented by the American pharmacist and surgeon Thomas Cantrell at the end of the 19th century. This sweet carbonated drink with the aroma of lemon and ginger is consumed in its pure form. It is good for cocktails, combined with vodka, whiskey or gin.
In the original recipe, ginger ale contains yeast. The mixture sits for several days, resulting in a flavorful ginger beer. Today we will prepare a non-alcoholic ginger ale that does not require much time and effort.
Ginger ale effectively fights colds and other viral diseases. Ginger root has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It will help normalize cholesterol levels. It also speeds up metabolism and eliminates the effects of dysbacteriosis. In hot weather, non-alcoholic ginger ale is best served cold. It will quench your thirst and refresh you. In the cold season, ale should be hot. This will help keep you warm and overcome vitamin deficiency.
Peel the ginger root and grind with a fine grater. Transfer the grated ginger along with the juice to a saucepan or ladle.
Wash citrus fruits. Using a grater with a fine cloth or a special knife, remove the zest from the lemon and lime. Add it to the pot with the ginger root.
Cut the lemon and half the lime into slices. Let's add them to the rest of the ingredients.
Pour all the components with 500 ml of cold purified water and put on a slow fire.
After boiling, boil the drink for 5 minutes, then add sugar to it. The amount of sugar can be changed according to your taste. Stir the drink so that the granulated sugar dissolves, and continue to cook it over low heat for another 10 minutes. Then strain the liquid through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to weed out pieces of citrus and ginger root.
Place the glass jug of ginger ale on the refrigerator shelf. To serve, add ice cubes to glasses. Pour chilled ginger ale up to half a glass. Then add cold sparkling water. Fill the glasses with a straw and a sprig of mint. If the drink is not sweet enough, add some more sugar. By the way, the preparation for the drink can be stored in glassware on the shelf of the refrigerator for one week.
