A delicious recipe for moqueca is a national Brazilian dish that resembles a thick soup of white fish and colorful vegetables. Bright and fragrant stew is easy and quick to prepare. Despite the exotic name, the set of products for this dish is quite simple. The exception is coconut milk, which can be replaced with heavy cream and a bag of coconut flakes. In Brazil, moqueca is baked in earthenware. In the absence of such, you can use any thick-walled container and simmer the stew on the stove. How to cook a dish at home we will tell further.
First of all, marinate the fish. Put pieces of hake or pollock in a container of suitable size. Add salt, pepper, lemon juice and minced garlic. Gently mix the fish with spices.
While the fish is marinating, we are engaged in vegetables: we cut the tomatoes into circles, and the onion and pepper into rings.
We collect a multi-layered dish. Pour olive oil into any thick-walled container and lay out half of the onion rings.
The next two layers are half the norm of tomatoes and bell peppers.
Place the fish pieces on top of the vegetables. We evenly fill them with free space between other products.
We cover the fish with the second part of the vegetables. We adhere to the same sequence - onions, tomatoes, peppers.
Sprinkle fish with vegetables with salt, pepper and pour coconut milk.
Bring the contents of the container to a boil and reduce the heating of the stove. We cook moqueca in Brazilian style for 30-40 minutes on very low heat. The first 15-20 minutes we simmer the dish under the lid, and then without it. This will help keep all the liquid within the container. Five minutes before the end of cooking, add salt, if necessary, and half of the chopped herbs.
Infuse moqueca with fish for five minutes, decorate it with the remaining parsley and serve with slices of fresh bread.
Enjoy your meal!
