Mexican tortilla is a thin tortilla made from corn or wheat flour. It is designed to prepare various Mexican dishes. Small round products are baked in a dry frying pan. They are used as the basis for pies, rolls, canapes and sandwiches. To make corn chips, tortillas are cut into segments and seasoned with olive oil, paprika, or chili. In a suitable container, combine salt, corn and wheat flour.
Gradually pour hot water into the resulting dry mixture.
Knead elastic dough.
We grease our hands with vegetable oil. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball. We cover the blanks with cling film so that they do not dry out.
Place a ball of dough on a sheet of parchment. With hands lubricated with vegetable oil, we turn it into a thin round cake.
Heat up a dry frying pan. We place a cake on it along with parchment. After 5-10 seconds, carefully remove the paper from the surface of the product. Use the same parchment to form another tortilla.
Fry the tortillas for 30 seconds on each side. We stack the finished products in a pile on top of each other and cover with a towel. Properly cooked tortillas easily bend in half.
